Lina Bo Bardi

Lina Bo Bardi

Lina Bo Bardi (Rome, 1914 – São Paulo, 1992) was an Italian-Brazilian architect, designer, and curator whose work left a profound mark on Brazilian architecture and culture in the twentieth century. A graduate of the University of Rome, she moved to São Paulo in 1946, where she developed a body of work that brought together modernism, popular culture, and social commitment. Her most emblematic projects include the São Paulo Museum of Art (MASP), SESC Pompeia, and the Glass House, her own residence. Lina Bo Bardi championed an open, democratic architecture connected to everyday life, while also engaging with scenography, design, museography, and curating. Her thinking placed great value on popular knowledge, craft, and the collective dimension of culture, making her one of the most influential figures in Latin American architecture and cultural thought.
