Inês Brites

Inês Brites

Inês Brites works across sculpture, installation, and media, drawing on what is familiar: a conversation between rejection, fragility, recognition, and affection. Her sculptural practice emerges from a network of found and produced objects, developed through an exploratory process of analysing materials and their purposes — mutable, contradictory, and guided by an irrepressible curiosity to relate materialities, the past, humour, accidental compositions, stagings, and illusions. Her approach questions the meaning of objects, exploring the impact these bodies have on us and on our societies through the memories that summon our   intimacies. She has exhibited at venues including MAAT, Museu de Serralves, Monitor Rome, FRAAC Fall River, Galeria 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, MACE, MNAC, and vaga, in the Azores. She founded the project Ciclo de Amizades (2019–2022), an exhibition series based on collaborations in her own studio, supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
