arquivo mangue
Formed by Camila Mota and Cafira Zoé, arquivo mangue works with living archives, multispecies cartographies, speculative f(r)iction, UAVOs — unidentified audiovisual objects, makumbas graphykas, being-sculptures, precarious supports, and ruins. Their research engages practices of counter-coloniality, ritual theatricalities, and human and non-human movements from a non-binary and anti-patriarchal perspective, with a focus on urban biomes and dissident genders and sexualities. They take the crossroads as a method and time as enchanted materiality. Site-specificity and the work of forging connections between beings, peoples, cosmologies, and ways of thinking are foundational to their practice. Radical imagination is both an obsession and a technology. Their work has been commissioned by Pivô Pesquisa (a contemporary art institution based in São Paulo and Salvador) and incorporated into significant national and international collections and holdings, including the Museu da Inconfidência in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, and the KADIST Foundation. They were nominated for the 2024 PIPA Prize.
