Volátil
18 Apr
With André Silva
Type: Exhibition
The exhibition Volátil presents André Silva’s most recent body of work, in which the geometric rigour of the historical avant-gardes, such as Suprematism and Constructivism, collides with the rawness of contemporary geopolitics. Through a practice the artist defines as «manual thought», the works explore the tension between the purity of abstraction and the «impurities» of the present: from dependence on fossil fuels to the erosion of democracies. Using supports that challenge the boundary between painting and object, the pieces are presented on aluminium shelves, reinforcing their three-dimensional presence. From the ironic dialogue between consumer design and Malevich’s utopia to the installation Zapping (2026), the exhibition proposes a physical resistance to the speed of digital consumption. In Volátil, painting is not a record, but a territory of resistance where matter is devastated and rescued in order to restore density to the gaze and question what remains of our attention.
Opening: 18 Apr, 16:00–20:00.
Tuesday to Saturday.
