O mundo é um corpo, um corpo é um encontro, um encontro é um mundo proposes a shift away from the notion of the subject as a separate and autonomous unit, understanding the individual and the body as a point of passage, a place of interactions and crossings. Here, the binomials — self and other, landscape and the element that inhabits it — dissolve, opening space for an experience in which relation, with the environment and with the other, comes before any pre-established identity. In this participatory performance, the artist-facilitator invites the audience to embody an ephemeral cartography in real time, through simple proposals for interaction, contact and the composition of landscapes with the body. To this end, simple materials will be used.
Malu Patury is an artist, teacher and researcher, born in Rio de Janeiro and based in Coimbra. With a background in classical dance and Brazilian ballroom dances, she combines her artistic practice with an academic path in History, Dance Anthropology/Ethnochoreology and Curatorship. Currently, in addition to teaching dance to a wide range of audiences, she develops authorial projects and collaborates in independent creations. Between 2023 and 2024, she took part in the Corpo-Território programme, promoted by the Linha de Fuga International Performing Arts Festival, in Coimbra. In the following years, during the 4th and 5th editions of the festival, she presented original authorial creations: the solo Rasgar a Noite, in partnership with artist Thales Luz, and the participatory performance Um mundo é um corpo, um corpo é um encontro, um encontro é um mundo.
